Conditions we support
At Northern Community Care, our trained and dedicated personnel provide specialised care and support for individuals with diverse needs, including autism, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, and physical disabilities. Our person-centred approach ensures support is tailored to each individual’s needs and preferences, promoting independence, wellbeing, and quality of life.
Autism Support
For individuals with autism, our personnel receive specialised training in autism spectrum disorders (ASD) to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to effectively support and communicate with individuals on the spectrum. We create structured environments and routines that promote predictability and minimise sensory overload, while also implementing strategies to support social skill development and behavioural management.
Learning disability support
For those with learning disabilities, our personnel employ a patient-centred approach that focuses on breaking tasks into manageable steps, providing visual aids and other supportive materials, and offering encouragement and positive reinforcement to promote learning and independence. We work closely with individuals to identify their strengths and areas for growth, empowering them to achieve their goals and maximise their potential.
Mental health needs
In supporting individuals with mental health needs, our personnel receive training in mental health awareness, de-escalation techniques, and crisis intervention. We provide a safe and nurturing environment where individuals feel heard, supported, and respected. Our team collaborates with mental health professionals to develop personalised care plans that address each individual’s unique needs and promote mental wellness and stability.
Physical Disability
For individuals with physical disabilities, our personnel are trained in mobility assistance techniques, safe transfer methods, and the use of adaptive equipment and technology. We prioritise accessibility and inclusivity in our facilities, ensuring that individuals with physical disabilities can navigate their environment with ease and participate fully in activities and programs. Our team works closely with healthcare professionals to address any medical needs and ensure individuals receive the comprehensive care they require.
